Helping to fight Alzheimer’s with Folding@Home

I have lost several people to Alzheimer’s disease, my grandmother being one of them. My grandfather has been diagnosed a few years ago and he is in bad condition now. Medicine has slowed the progression but he may not survive to next Christmas. Alzheimer’s is genetic, so there is a chance that my mother will get it and even a greater chance that I will get it. I hope that there will be a cure by the time it comes for me. This is why I fold.

Folding@Home is a simple program that you install on your computer to do complex calculations  to help find cures to some big diseases. This is called cloud computing. Watch the video below to learn more about it.

So what do I do? I have this program running all the time. It is my way of donating to a cause all the time. I am using my power, my internet connection, my computer power.

Help Stanford University scientists studying Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, and many cancers by simply running a piece of software on your computer or game console. http://folding.stanford.edu We need to crunch a lot of numbers and your unused computer power can help us do that. Join the world’s largest distributed supercomputer.
